REGION INFORMATION
West of Grootfontein lies the huge Hoba meteorite. At over 60 tons, it is the largest known meteorite on Earth, as well
as the largest naturally occurring mass of iron known to exist on Earth.
OTAVI MOUNTAINS
Otavi, Tsumeb and Grootfontein define an area known as the “Otavi Triangle”, also known as the Otavi Mountainland.
This geographical region is sometimes referred to as the “Golden Triangle”, or as the “maize Triangle”, owing to the
cultivation of maize in the area.
OTJIWARONGO
Places of interest in Otjiwarongo proximity to the Waterberg Plateau Park. is home to the Cheetah Conservation Fund,
an internationally recognized organization dedicated to ensuring the long-term survival of the cheetah through research,
conservation and education.
The Crocodile Ranch, one of the few captive breeding programs for the Nile Crocodile that has been registered with
CITES.
